    Hi! And thank you for giving this theme to the community!

    There seems to be a limitation of 30 words in the text for each of the service descriptions. This causes some descriptions are cut or some more text is shown than I want it to appear. Is there any way to specify a number of words for each description?

    On the other hand, I noticed that by placing the mouse over each service item, the area to be colored may not have the same surface. This seems to be an aesthetic bug that is also present in the Pro version. Can you help me to solve this?

    Thanks in advance.

    Kind regards,
    Daniel

    Hello @drknuth,

    The feature to limit the word is available in the pro version . With the the pro version you can limit the word length as much as you want .

    Pro version also comes with other exciting feature . To know more about the pro version you can refer to below link.

    http://themepalace.com/downloads/bizlight-pro/

    Similarly for each service item, the area of content will be as much as you place the content for the section. So if you want uniform area than you must place same amount of content for each page that is assigned in the service section.

    Hope this helps.

    For any confusion further, we are here for you.

    Best Regards!!

    Hi, and thanks for your reply.

    It seems that my previous answer has not been published yet although the forum shows three posts for this topic. I hope this answer is published. Sorry if the message appears twice.

    > The feature to limit the word is available in the pro version. With the
    > the pro version you can limit the word length as much as you want.

    If this limit is the same for each service item, I think this would not be useful for me. Below is a screenshot of how the description is currently displayed for each service item.

    Service section

    The text that I would like to show in each service item has:

    a) 24 words for the first item.
    b) 29 words for the second item.
    c) 46 words for the third item.

    > Similarly for each service item, the area of content will be as much as
    > you place the content for the section. So if you want uniform area than
    > you must place same amount of content for each page that is assigned in
    > the service section.

    It is unlikely to express three different concepts with exactly the same amount of text. Is it the only way to avoid this aesthetic issue?

    Thanks for your time.

    Kind regards,
    Daniel

    Hello @drknuth,

    To maintain uniform blue area on the basis of the word you have mentioned, please use below CSS.

    For this go to Admin Panel > Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS and paste below given CSS.

    .box-content {
        min-height: 350px!important;
    }

    Hope this helps.

    If you have any issue further, please let us know.

    Best Regards!!

    Thanks for your reply. I have tried it but I don’t see changes regarding the absence of these suggested lines in Additional CSS. If you have any other suggested changes, I would appreciate it.

    Kind regards,

    Thanks for your answer.

    Maybe I did not understand the behavior that should be obtained with the code you suggested. Let’s keep in mind that in a previous message I mentioned two issues:

    1) To limit the number of words to a certain amount, different for each service item.
    2) To make the colored surface for each service item, when place the mouse over the item, be the same.

    The site is currently in a test environment, with no access from Internet.

    Kind regards,
    Daniel

    Hello @drknuth,

    1) To limit the number of words to a certain amount, different for each service item

    The word for each post can be limit by going to the particular page edit screen. For this go to Admin Panel > Pages and to the particular page . Here you can put the number of words you want for the page .

    Refer to below screen shot for clear info:

    2) To make the colored surface for each service item, when place the mouse over the item, be the same.

    For this you can use the CSS we have mentioned above which is .

    .box-content {
        min-height: 350px!important;
    }

    The CSS has worked on our side .

    Hope this helps .

    Best Regards!!

    Thanks for your reply. I understand what you say here but that is not useful to me. I’ll try to explain it on another way. This theme uses a different page for each service. On the main page of the site, each service item is displayed with an excerpt so that when you click on one of these items, the entire page is then displayed. The issue I have is that the excerpt for each service item has a fixed amount of words and I would need that excerpt shows for each service item a different amount of words to prevent what I showed in a previous screenshot.

    I hope this time has become clearer.

    Unfortunately this has not worked for me. I could give you access to the site in the test environment if you tell me from what IP you would be accessing it. In this way I would limit access only to you.

    Thanks for your time.

    Kind regards,
    Daniel

    Hello @DrKnuth,

    The feature to control the no. of words in each of the service block is not available in the Bizlight theme.

    While the pro version of the theme has the feature of setting the excerpt length of the excerpt, that too applies to all the services block and not individually. If you wish to have customizable option to set each individual page’s excerpt length for the services block, it will require code customization, which is beyond the scope of this support forum.

    We would suggest to Hire a professional customizer if you wish to implement the feature in the theme so that the theme does not get affected by any means.

    Also, the CSS we have provided is supposed to work for the no. of words you have defined while we were assuming you had put the specified no. of words in the page content.

    Thus, currently the CSS will work if you set the contents for the page with the no. of words you have mentioned.

    Hope you would understand,

    Best Regards !!

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply. About CSS, I understand. Looks like we had a misunderstanding.

    I’ve been able to enable independent excerpts for each page by adding the following code in functions.php (I know that perhaps it is advisable to use a child theme, but this is a quick test):

    function my_add_excerpts_to_pages() {
         add_post_type_support('page', 'excerpt');
    }
    add_action('init', 'my_add_excerpts_to_pages');

    This enables the “Excerpt” option in the “Screen Options” tab when editing each page. In this way it is possible to create an excerpt with a different text to the body of the page with the desired number of words. I’ve been testing it for blog articles and it works perfectly.

    However it seems that for some reason it is not working in the service blocks. Is there something that overrides this functionality of WordPress there?

    Thanks in advance.

    Kind regards,
    Daniel

    Hello @drknuth,

    If you modify a theme directly and it is updated, then your modifications may be lost. So please go through the child theme approach for any modification in the theme .

    Child Theme References :
    https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

    You can also create child theme using plugins:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-child-theme-generator/

    After creating and activating the child theme paste below given code in your Child themes functions.php file .

    https://gist.github.com/anonymous/eb6c9b0d14d7dee47697bd5190294ff2

    After this you will be able to add the required excerpt in the excerpt field of the page .

    Hope this helps.

    Best Regards!!

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply.

    I have tried to make a child theme manually or using the your plugin and in both cases it seems that this generates certain changes in the original theme. For example, the button to go to the top of the page is lengthened and the text in the top menu and for each of the service items is underlined when placing the mouse over them. I was even able to reproduce this behavior in a setup from scratch with Wordpres 4.7.3. Could you check it, please?

    Regarding to the code in Github, thank so very much! It worked! After that, I tested the change you had suggested by adding the CSS code so that the colored area is the same in each service item and this also worked.

    Thanks for your time.

    Kind regards,
    Daniel

    Hello @drknuth,

    In order to avoid such issue create the child theme with the code given below i.e. place the below given code in your child themes functions.php file .

      add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'bizlight_child_style' );
      function bizlight_child_style() {
    	wp_enqueue_style( 'child-style',get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . '/style.css',array('parent-style'));
    }

    Hope this helps.

    Also we are very happy to know that your issue has been solved .

    But if you have any confusion further we are always here for you.

    Best Regards!!

    Hi!

    > In order to avoid such issue create the child theme with the code given
    > below i.e. place the below given code in your child themes functions.php
    > file.
    >
    > (…)

    Unfortunately this did not work. After adding this code in functions.php of the child theme and reloading the site, I get a blank page. I checked the web server error log and I found:

    PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare bizlight_child_style()

    Then I commented the lines of code above, added by your child themes creation plugin:

      add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'bizlight_child_style' );
      function bizlight_child_style() {
            wp_enqueue_style( 'parent-style', get_template_directory_uri() . '/style.css' );
            wp_enqueue_style( 'child-style',get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . '/style.css',array('parent-style'));
    }

    In this way, only the suggested code would be interpreted in functions.php, but this completely breaks the site styles.

    > Also we are very happy to know that your issue has been solved.

    Yes, thanks! I think it may be useful to include in future versions of BizLight the code you shared in Github.

    Thanks for your time.

    Kind regards,
    Daniel
