Tagged: Language version

I have started building my website in English but also want a Danish version. I just cannot find how to make two start pages, one in each language, that can be seen by only changing languages. I seems that should have the start page for both languages, but this cannot be done.
I also notice that the URL for the English (original) version still has /sample page/ in it: http://www.svendia.in/en/sample-page/
Does this have something to do with my problem?January 23, 2017 at 12:10 pm #29484
For the website to
By default, WordPress does not come with features required to create a proper multilingual site.
Plugins like WPML, Polylang, etc helps you to create multilanguage website in different language upon language switch.
Regarding ‘sample-page’ in URL, you just go and edit the page and rename the slug i.e. just below the page title input field and Save.
Hope this helps !January 25, 2017 at 7:40 am #29863
Thanks for the answer, but it didn’t help me unfortunately.
I am using Polylang and it works well, except for the front page, the page with the above address. And I still suspect that it can have something to do with the “sample page”-issue, since this can NOT be edited when I go to the Edit page. It says Permalink: and the the address, but on all other pages there is also an Edit button, but not here?
I wish I could enclose a screen dump to show you, but I hope you understand 😉January 26, 2017 at 9:50 am #29968
I’m still having my serious problem with not being able to change the language on the start page and I cannot change the URL from /sample-page/-issue. Please see above.
Would appreciate your help!January 26, 2017 at 10:21 am #29970
Because it seems “Sample Page” might be already set as Front Page from Settings >> Readings. You are not allowed to therefore to change the permalink. You could create another new page for homepage or select any other page from an options as homepage. Then go back to edit the sample page to edit the permalink slug.
Hope this helps !January 26, 2017 at 10:34 am #29976
Thanks for trying to help me. I have a feeling we are getting closer to the problem, but it is still unsolved.
When I follow your instructions and try to change the page it is not doable. Every time I try to save, it skips back to the same start (sample-page).
But there is a warning saying: “The chosen static front page must be translated in all languages.”
But I HAVE translated to the two languages in the Strings translation.
I’m sure I’m doing something wrong, but what?? Losing days and getting desperate 😉January 26, 2017 at 10:48 am #29977
Just to try, I set the Front Page from Settings >> Readings to Your latest posts, and now I cannot change back to my former first page, for the same reason as before: “The chosen static front page must be translated in all languages.”
What am I doing wrong?

As the theme is already translation ready it must be working with Multilingual plugin .
But as it falls under third party plugin category we cannot assure its 100% compatibility with the theme .
As for the theme if you are having trouble in translation for specific section then please mention that so that we could look it for you .
Thank you .
