I would like to add a “read more” link to replace the (…) after the excerpt text in the Services widget on my homepage. Can you please direct me on how the achieve this or provide special code for the additional css section?

The feature you are looking for is currently not available in the theme.
However you can achieve what you want with advance code customization.
