I need to be able to have more control over my Home (Front) Page. The Pro version does not let me control font sizes and has very awkward widgets – like the Testimonial slider. I need to know if Elementor can be used with this page. If it cannot, I have very little use for the Pro version of the Theme. I get a message designating “the_content” when I try to use Elementor on the page. I can use it on the other pages.

There is no option of the font-sizes in the theme itself, however, we can provide you with the custom CSS to change the font sizes. Please specify us the section or if to the whole site if you want to make the modification.
Can you please provide us with your site URL so that we can inspect further the issue in the testimonial slider ?
Our theme are well tested with the plugins that is recommended by the theme. Apart from the recommended plugins, we cannot ensure the compatibility with the third party plugins. If you need the elementor in your site and you are not happy with its function, you can also ask for the refund.
