How are the posts selected for listing? Is it possible to make it a random, changeable, selection? For example, I have over 200 blogs posts, and I’d like to be able to change the website listing on occasion, in Latest News or the Feature Block. I know I can do that with creative categories, but that could interfere with the search function…
Thanks

We have different section in the theme where you can select the category that you want to display . So if there are more no of posts then, the only way you could sort out is by categorizing the post and display in the particular section .
Also we are not quite clear with your search query . Whatever you search through the search section that will be displayed in search page . So please explain your query properly so that we could help you with this .
Hope this helps .
Best Regards!!
Have a good day 🙂

If I set them to a different category, the search feature is affected.
LindaNovember 26, 2017 at 10:02 am #59156wensolutionsKeymasterHello @lindaje ,
The feature to control the no of post to display in Featured block section is already provided within the theme .
For this you simply need to go to Admin Panel > Appearance > Customize > Featured Block > Featured Block Type > No Of Block . From here you can manage the no of post to display .
If you categorized the post to certain category and if you search that post it will be displayed in the search page . No matter what you search through search section it will be listed in search page if it is available within the theme .
Hope this clears the confusion .
Any further issues are always welcome 🙂 .
Best Regards!!
November 26, 2017 at 11:24 am #59157lindajeParticipantThank you. I do understand how posts are selected. BUT, I need to have a way to randomly select from within the category. For example, if I have 10 posts about ‘category x’ and I’m displaying 4 posts on the site, and then I want to change those 4 posts, the only way to do that is to change the category on the first four posts to something different. But the problem then comes in when a reader wants to search for ‘category x’ They will miss the first 4, which now have a different category. Is it possible for the theme to randomly select posts within a category, at the command of the administrator, so the posts change on the website but the categories remain intact.
Hope that clears up the question. Thanks

To select the post randomly from the category of featured block section paste below given code in your child theme functions.php file .
https://gist.github.com/anonymous/3af4ad554e13156d498576c4852e311e
This will randomly list the post from the category that you have choose to display in featured block section .
Hope this helps .

November 27, 2017 at 10:49 am #59222lindajeParticipantThank you. I don’t have a child theme and I won’t mess in the editor. Ever. But thanks for the information. I hope you consider putting this into any new releases of this theme; it’s rather important that the information displayed be changeable without having to do a lot of work with the categories.
I’d suggest a ‘switch’ or something the user can choose ‘select random posts’ or ‘show the posts in reverse date order, latest first’..
LindaNovember 27, 2017 at 11:11 pm #59252wensolutionsKeymasterHello @lindaje,
We will definitely note this as an requested feature 🙂 .
If you have any confusion further please do not hesitate to post .
Best Regards!!
Have a good day .
