I want to reduce both the height & the width in such a way that 4 of the thumbnails appear in a row.

In order to reduce the height and width and make four thumbnail appear in the row you need to go through the child theme approach.
For this At first you need to create and activate the child theme. To create the child theme you can refer to the link below:
