I am using the Blog Diary theme, and I am receiving a ‘There has been a critical error on your website.’ message on the About Me and Contact pages of my site (chrismiles.co), but not on the blog pages or the homepage.
The site was fine and then one day this week, this issue appeared.
I have done the following troubleshooting
1. Deactivated all plugins – the error persisted
2. Changed theme (tried 3 other themes) – the issue went away
3. Removed all additional CSS – the error persisted
4. Deleted the pages in question and created new ones in their place – the error persistedSo it seems the issue is related to the theme, but I don’t know what to do next.
Can someone more capable than me help me out, please?
Thanks
Chris
July 21, 2020 at 2:26 am #129099wensolutionsKeymasterHello @productguychris,
First of all, thank you very much for using the theme.
Regarding your query, when we tested the theme on our side, everything is working fine.
The issue may have raised because you may have done customization in the pages that may have raise conflict with the theme that is used. So if you have any customization in the theme then please make sure it does not raise any conflict with the theme.
Further, you mayhave received the email ragrdig the issue, please check the emails and work accordingly. Also, do not forget to check the debug log.
Thank you and stay safe.

I don’t believe I have any customisation that would cause this issue – I have customised the title to remove the large banner but that’s about it.
Can you help me with how to view and interpret the debug log?
This is my first time creating a WordPress site so a little further guidance would be appreciated!
July 21, 2020 at 7:49 am #129118wensolutionsKeymasterHello,
Actually, the issue can be raised(might be) due to customization you have made regarding title. So, we would like to suggest you to consult with the one who had done customization.
Regards.
July 22, 2020 at 6:26 am #129197productguychrisParticipantI removed all the additional CSS which includes the CSS which removed the header overlay and the issue remained.
Also, the issue didn’t happen immediately after adding this so I’m not sure it’s connected.
Any chance of guidance with the debugging?
July 23, 2020 at 12:53 am #129285wensolutionsKeymasterHello,
Please test the theme in the new setup with the brand new theme zip. Even if the issue exists in this setting then kindly let us know.
Thank you.

change theme to 2019 + all plugin activated
change theme to 2019 + all plugin deactivated
change the theme to Blog diary + all plugin activate
change the theme to Blog diary + all plugin deactivateDoes the issue resolve?
Hoping for your kind co-operation.
Regards.
August 8, 2020 at 9:08 am #130860productguychrisParticipantIs 2019 the most recent blog diary, or do I need to roll back?
I have already tried with and without plugins (see previous messages).
It feels like you’re stalling so you don’t have to help!

Can you please send in your error log of the server in the email so that we can further move into the issue and help you?

Thank you.
August 11, 2020 at 6:02 am #131084productguychrisParticipantUnfortunately I don’t know how to do this. I have researched and tried myself but I can’t quite work it out.
Quote from my comment on July 21st:
Can you help me with how to view and interpret the debug log?
This is my first time creating a WordPress site so a little further guidance would be appreciated!
So from my perspective we are going round in circles and are no further forward than 3 weeks ago!
I think I will have to use a non Theme-Palace theme for my site, as the issue goes when I change to a different theme provider. It is a shame because Blog Diary was my favourite, but I have to get the site live this week.
August 11, 2020 at 6:21 am #131086productguychrisParticipantFollow up – I have worked it out.
I managed to set up the debugger (apologies, it was definitely not difficult and I should have realised sooner how to do it!) and found a minor error in the code in page.php which I have amended and it appears to be working now.
Thanks for the responses!
August 11, 2020 at 7:53 am #131101wensolutionsKeymasterHello @productguychris,
Glad you find the workaround.
If you have any issues further then kindly let us know.
