when I change the home page to a static page e.g. shop, the drop down main menu and category menus do not work

Since it seems that you have selected Latest Posts to show on front page so the menus are working fine and I have inspected your site. I need to see the scenario of not working of menu so you need to choose static page and save the changes until the issue is solved. So that I can inspect your site and see what the issue is.
And furthermore I have checked this issue by creating the same scenario as yours but the menus are all working fine on static page.

I have inspected you site and noticed that you have used sharebar plugin. So the issue of menus not working might be due to this plugin. Please try deactivating this plugin and see the changes.

I see thank you, it works now. But now that I have deactivated sharebar, I can’t seem to find where on the theme I can add share buttons for the pages and products. I see they exit on the blog posts only limited to facebook, twitter and google+

I am a bit confused about your query.
If you want to add more social icon than facebook, twitter and google+ then you can add.
For that you need to add custom links. Follow the steps carefully.
Go to Admin Panel / Appearance / Menus. And then select the menu you are using as Social Menu.
Now add custom links as shown here http://prnt.sc/au0za9
Similarly you can add other social icons as well.

Ok so Sharebar puts a slider on your pages and posts with social media SHARE buttons. In photo perfect pro I can add social media LINKS (to my social media profiles) as you have described above. It is only the blog posts that have SHARE buttons at the bottom of the post. Now that I can’t use Sharebar, how can I add SHARE buttons to pages?

Currently there is no option available to add SHARE button to page.
You can better go to particular plugin support forum and explain you issue that was after you activated the plugin and get some help form there.Best Regards!!
