Hello, I am having problems locating the documentation on how to upgrade from the free version to the pro version. The documentation I did find tells me to download and install the theme. I tried that but the install fails and the message says it’s already installed in that directory. Please advise as I’m not understanding how to upgrade my site from the free version to the pro version.
Thanks in advance
October 26, 2016 at 12:44 am #21815wensolutionsKeymasterHello @DLCMS,
To upgrade your theme from free to pro version you simply need to upload the pro theme zip file from Appearance panel > Themes > Add New > Upload Theme button. Or if you are using FTP client you can extract the pro theme zip to : /wp-content/themes/ directory.
If you already have completed one of the steps above, please make sure that you have activated the pro theme from Dashboard > Appearance > Themes.
Please post back to us if the issue still persists.
Best Regards !!
October 26, 2016 at 7:10 am #21831DLCMSParticipantThank you. I tried that but I receive this message when attempting to install the pro zip file:
“Destination folder already exists. /home/cmsatw/public_html/wp-content/themes/trade-line-pro/
Theme install failed.”
October 26, 2016 at 7:16 am #21833wensolutionsKeymasterHello @DLCMS,
It looks like the pro theme is already installed in your website.
Please make sure that in your Admin Dashboard > Appearance > Themes your active theme is “Trade Line Pro”.
Also, please share with us your website URL so that we can inspect your website for issue resolution and further debugging.
Best Regards !!
October 26, 2016 at 7:31 am #21834DLCMSParticipantThank you. It seems that way, but if it is, I don’t have the options available in the pro version and when I go to customize, it still gives me the option to upgrade to pro.
The website is alliedtravelweb.net
October 26, 2016 at 7:35 am #21835DLCMSParticipantYou were corerct, it was installed but not active. I activated it and found I lost all of my website data from the free version. I was hoping this would be be an upgrade that would not make me lose data. Is there a way to bring all of my work from the free version over to the pro version or will I have to start over?
October 26, 2016 at 7:51 am #21844DLCMSParticipantOn further inspection, it appears that my data is still there, and that I just need to update the content and settings for the home page and make appropriate customization setting changes to make the site appear as it was before the upgrade. Thanks for your help. Feel free to close this topic.
October 26, 2016 at 7:54 am #21846wensolutionsKeymasterHello,
The theme does migrate all the data from the free theme, but the thing is by default when you activate the pro theme the first time the theme shows the demo content.
We will provide you the example of the slider on the theme.
On the free version of the theme if you have configured the slider to show some slides, all your data will be migrated to the pro version but it wont show until you configure it on the theme.
So all you have to do is go to
Dashboard -> Appearance -> Customize -> Featured Slider -> Slider Type and set the Select Slider Type option as Featured Pages. You will see the data being migrated.
You can follow similar measures on other settings as well.
Hope it helps.
Best regards.October 26, 2016 at 10:37 am #21861DLCMSParticipantHello,
After making a few customization changes such as updating the slider to point to pages and adding widgets to the home page, the site is intermittently displaying with this error:
Fatal error: Cannot call overloaded function for non-object in /home/cmsatw/public_html/wp-content/themes/trade-line-pro/inc/customizer/default.php on line 79
Please advise. Thank in advance!
October 26, 2016 at 11:49 am #21875wensolutionsKeymasterAre you on Godaddy by any chance? Some other people have similar experience and it seems like it might be related to the use of PHP’s APC for caching.
Try flushing the cache. Also you can check with Godaddy about this issue if you are on this hosting.
If you are on different hosting, kindly send us your login details to our support mail ( support[at]wensolutions.com ) for further inspection.
October 26, 2016 at 1:29 pm #21892DLCMSParticipantYes I am using Godaddy and contacted them. They flushed the cache but the problem came back. They recommended I install a clear cache plugin which I have not done. They also told me to ask you if there are any other settings they should look at since you’ve had other users with similar problems.
The problem persists after the flushing the cache. This problem occurs specifically when I am adding widgets and adding text to the widgets on the front page. The widgets hang up. I’m not sure if any other actions will cause the problem, but it continues to happen while I am working on the home page widgets. Specifically, the Trade Line Call To Action Widget and Trade Line Services Widget. I’ve tried making one change at a time and saving/publishing each change as I go, but it ultimately hangs up.
October 27, 2016 at 1:58 am #21953wensolutionsKeymasterWell, from other users they later changed their hosting and no such problem reoccurred in their site again. So we just could suppose it is something related how the server at Godaddy handles.
Programmatically we have also verified the code and there is nothing to make any markable upgrade.
