In the Recent works section, the images are displayed from the featured image section of the post assigned to the category . So please make sure you have assigned more that one post in the category you have chosen to display in the Recent works section and also make sure you have uploaded the your desired image in the featured image section of the posts.

To change the font size of the text in your site use below given CSS in Admin Panel > Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS.

font-size:16px;
}

You can adjust the font size according to your need.

Your site title is shown in two line because of the font size of the title .

So in order to make them appear in one line use below given CSS in the location Admin Panel > Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS :

.site-title {
    font-size: 27px;
}

Actually the issue you have posted is not an issue . Your are having such gaps because of the image size .

So if you want your image to display as in the demo version go to Page edit screen and to the particular image edit screen . Here from right side to the page chose the image size as medium then you will have same as in the demo version . Also you can chose the image size as your wish.

TO have the image of uniform size upload the image of same size or regenerate the thumbnail using the plugins.

If you wish to change the social link in the top left corner and and in the footer section you have to created the social menu by including the links of your choice .

For this go to Admin Panel > Appearance > Customize > Menus and create the social menu and include your desired custom links in the menu you have created .

After that assign the created social menu in the menu locations by going to Admin Panel > Appearance > Customize > Menus > Menus Locations.

Also make sure you have enabled the Show Social Icons in header by going to Admin Panel > Appearance > Customize > Theme Options > Header Options.

If you wish to show only one image as the banner image in the frot page then you can set only one image in the slider section. Then disable the arrow and the pager in the slider by going to Admin Panel > Appearance > Customize > Featured Slider > Slider Options .

Now to manage the design issue in the landscape mode use below given CSS in the location Admin Panel > Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS.
