Regarding your query related to remove space in footer content, you can add CSS following path Admin Panel > Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS
.home .site-footer .page-section { padding: 0px; }To increase the logo height, you can add CSS following the path Admin Panel > Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS
.site-logo .custom-logo-link img { max-height: 120px; }You can adjust the height as per your requirement.

Actually you have added only one footer widget which has occupied 100% width in the footer. In comparison to space, the image that you have added is small so there appear to be lots of white space.
So to resolve the issue, you either need to add multiple widgets or make the image appear in the center.
If you wish to display the image at the center then please add below-given CSS by going to Admin Panel > Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS.

To enable the slider section you can follow the path Admin Panel > Appearance > Customize > FrontPage > Main Slider and enable the sliders section.
Regarding your query related to the header image, the header image displays only on the pages other than the front page. It doesn’t display on the front page.

We have fixed the issue of searching the trip with the dates in ascending order and the trip with the dates in descending order.
Regarding another query, trips displays as per the date you created the trip on the archive page, not as per the trip departure date. The feature to show all trips date wise by default in a search page is currently not available. As much as we would love to help you, we are unable to do so as it requires hiring code customization. So you can consider hiring a freelancer or our professional developer.

Upon further inspecting, you need to check the performance report check which scripts source is responsible.
There might be some other 3rd-Party plugins which are responsible for slowing down the site page load speed.
