Great, thanks! We’ll continue the conversation there.

    You’ve been a wonderful help. 🙂

Secondly, I added the first code to the function php. And it just inserted it as plain text atop every page.

I’m very confused – what can we do to streamline this process?

    Hi WEN,

Sorry for the confusion – but where in the WordPress > Editor > Child theme is an option to “create file”. I can create it on my desktop, but there’s also nowhere to “upload file”.

I can provide you a support login if that would be easier. But if we continue here, I’ll need a step by step guide on how to accomplish this.

    Thank you 🙂

“Then create custom.js file in your child theme .”

    How do I do this?

    Hi WEN,

You stated, “you have to enqueue the js script in your functions.php file .” I don’t know what this means. Could you clarify?

I have a functions.php file in my child theme. I added your second script; it did not work.

Let me know if I’m missing something. I’m versed in html, but novice in js. I’ll require step by step instruction.

You may email me directly if easier.

    Thanks!

    Hi WEN,

Thanks for your prompt response. Where do I add the jc code in the child theme?

To reiterate: this must be done WITHOUT a plugin; particularly one that hasn’t been tested.

Success! Everything is working perfectly now. 🙂

    1. The icon wasn’t being displayed because I had copied the code through my email provider (Gmail) which seems to have formatted some of the characters. I re-copied the code from the ticket directly, and it works great.
    2. Okay, I will monitor.
    3. Updated my child theme’s function.php. The redirect for this icon no longer opens in a new window.

Thanks so much for your help! 🙂

    Hi @wensolutions,

    1. The code didn’t work. You can see it implemented on my site now (www.tickettotakeoff.com) and the broken icon is still present.
    2. What theme were you seeing previously. This has me worried…
    3. Why is my custom link opening in a new window, even though that box is unchecked?

Thanks @websolutions. I don’t think that’s the case. I cleared my system’s browsing data and am operating on a (very) fast internet connection. And again, tested on multiple devices and browsers. If the theme can’t handle a simple site like mine, I’m worried the issue will reoccur.

I’ll take screenshots if the issue happens again.

? I’m using your theme, Photomania Pro. That hasn’t changed since Friday.

What are you seeing? Or what did you see? http://www.tickettotakeoff.com/

Secondly: The RSS link is opening in a new tab – even though I DON’T have “open in a new tab” selected under Menus > Custom Links. Any idea why this isn’t responding correctly?

    Hi @wensolutions,

Correct, I had to remove the RSS social icon since it was a broken image.

I’m fully familiar with the font-awesome icon classes. However, there is no place to input the icon under Menus > Custom Links. When investigating the css, it looks like the icon is being called under content=”\f0e1″; — which doesn’t correspond with the “fa fa-rss” formatting.

Please advise how to update this icon. I’ve added the broken link on the page so you can view.

    Thanks!

    Hi @wensolutions,

You’re correct; per my latest comment, my mobile theme started working a couple hours later. I hadn’t changed anything during that time – plugins, updates, nothing. I simple refreshed once more before bed and it was working…

Any ideas on what could have caused this breakage? Or what more I can do to troubleshoot to help you debug?

The mobile site is now working (???) though I didn’t change anything…

I’m concerned that the mobile site will temporarily go down again (and for no reason). What could have caused this?

Also, not all of my custom css styles are applying to the mobile version. Thoughts?

    Thank you in advance!

I found a way around this. But it was a LOT OF WORK!! Had to:

Create pages for all my current categories
Download a plugin that displayed selected categories on selected page using shortcode (since /category sublinks can’t be inputted)
    Selected those pages under Sections

    Whew!!
