Just to try, I set the Front Page from Settings >> Readings to Your latest posts, and now I cannot change back to my former first page, for the same reason as before: “The chosen static front page must be translated in all languages.”
What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for trying to help me. I have a feeling we are getting closer to the problem, but it is still unsolved.
When I follow your instructions and try to change the page it is not doable. Every time I try to save, it skips back to the same start (sample-page).
But there is a warning saying: “The chosen static front page must be translated in all languages.”But I HAVE translated to the two languages in the Strings translation.
I’m sure I’m doing something wrong, but what?? Losing days and getting desperate 😉
I’m still having my serious problem with not being able to change the language on the start page and I cannot change the URL from /sample-page/-issue. Please see above.

Thanks for the answer, but it didn’t help me unfortunately.
I am using Polylang and it works well, except for the front page, the page with the above address. And I still suspect that it can have something to do with the “sample page”-issue, since this can NOT be edited when I go to the Edit page. It says Permalink: and the the address, but on all other pages there is also an Edit button, but not here?
I wish I could enclose a screen dump to show you, but I hope you understand 😉
