The icon you are referring to comes from the Font Awesome icon class.
To change the right pointing hand icon in the header notice you can paste in the following custom CSS in your Dashboard > Appearance > Customize > Theme Options > Advanced Options > Custom CSS field :

#quick-contact .top-news-title::before {
content: "\f14a";
}

You can replace the content id value with the Font Awesome icon unicode of the icon of your choice. For reference of all Font Awesome icons see this link.

To add widgets on footer widget area please go to

Dashboard -> Appearance -> Widgets

There you will be able to see four footer widget areas ( Footer widget area one – Footer widget area four ). Now drag and drop the widgets you would want to add on the footer widget areas.

To keep the black color when masthead is active on other pages too you need to add below custom CSS.

}

To make your menu layer above the image you need to add custom CSS.
For this you need to go to Admin Panel / Appearance / Customize / Themes Options / Advanced Options.
Here you need to copy and paste below custom CSS.

}

To fix the issue in iPad in landscape mode, you need to add custom CSS.
For this you need to go to Admin Panel /Appearance / Customizer / Theme Options / Advanced Options. Here copy and paste below CSS.

Yes you will have to make a new child theme for the pro version but you can duplicate the free version of the child theme rename it and change the template name to education-hub-pro.

Or you can create a new child theme with an easy child theme generator plugin
( https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-child-theme-generator/ ) and add your changes to it.
