I would like a box to show on the right side under “subscribe” to allow visitors to add their emails address – how do I do this?

As far as we have seen your site it is seen that there is already a box under “subscribe” to allow visitors to add their email address.
Is your issue fixed???
If not please explain you issue in more details may be with some screenshot of the section in which you want to put that box.Best Regards!!!
No the issue hasn’t been fixed. There is no placed for guests to add their emails addresses under the subscribe button (different list than the Thursday Folder)

As far as we have inspected you stie you have used Newsletter plugin for Subscribing purpose.
So we would like to request you to go to particular plugin support forum here https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/newsletter and post your issue for further assistance.
Or you might go through the Newsletter documentation as well.
They will provide you with some solution.

The newsletter is separate. I want to allow guests to sign up and receive notifications when new posts are made to our website.

Currently the option/feature we are seeking for is not available in the theme.
We are sorry to tell you that you have to search some third party plugin to do this custom job for you.
